Our Story

Prunty's Pantry, Ithaca College's on-campus food pantry is a permanent location on campus which stores food and grocery items, personal care products, household paper products, dairy products, frozen foods, and some fresh produce.   Since 2019, the pantry has worked to address food insecurity among Ithaca College students, faculty, and staff, and 2022 has seen a large spike in visits to the pantry.  Through the middle of September, the pantry had already seen 2,188 visits to the pantry, an increase of 348% from 2021.  Overall, the Pantry has provided more than 96,000 pounds of food and helped to feed more than 8,600 hungry people across the Ithaca College Community since February 2019.   Your gift to the IC Fund to Address Food insecurity will allow the pantry to provide more food, and acquire improved storage options to reduce food waste and spoilage.  Here are some testimonials from IC students about how the Pantry has impacted their experience at IC:

"Having access to a meal or ingredients to create a meal means not stressing over what to eat while dealing with different stressors that come from being a student. The food pantry allows me to concentrate on my studies and not a growling stomach."

"Thank you so much for the relief you bring me and others. Unless I am on my last penny during the month, sending me money from home is not easy and not always possible. I was telling my mom I was fed even though I was living on just one meal a day. Then I heard about the food pantry. YAY! Thanks for giving me my health and the relief that I needn't go hungry!" - IC Student

"The food pantry is wonderful. I'm a first-generation student and have skipped meals and survived on oatmeal packets for too long. Now I don’t worry about where my next meal is coming from. I always have healthy snacks like nuts and fruit. Thank you so much to the food pantry!" - Kayla ‘24

"The food pantry helps me get adequate meals throughout the month. Being a student-athlete, I don't have much time to work to obtain money to buy food. Also, this means I don't get much time to cook meals every day. The food pantry offers an abundance of quick options that help me get good nutrition throughout the month. Eggs are my favorite that the pantry supplies!" - IC Student

On Giving Tuesday, we ask you to make a gift to support Prunty's Pantry at Ithaca College, to ensure our community has access to what they need to be at their best.
